Getting older is NUTS!

So, being a teacher, I was always taught that the first few words would be what "caught my audience. I bet you didn't think this post was going to be about nuts though? Literally - NUTS!!!

Yes, they're small, but tree nuts like almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans, and pistachios have big anti-aging powers. These crunchy snacks contain special nutrients that can help delay or prevent age-related heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, nerve disease, and some types of cancer. Nuts also protect your brain as you age.


Buying nuts can be very overwhelming though because there are SO many options out there. Here are my top tips to getting yourself the BEST possible nuts:

  • buy raw organic nuts whenever possible

  • roast your own nuts at a super low temperature for about 45 minutes; I promise, you will be mind-blown!

  • if you can't roast your own, buy organic roasted nuts preferably lightly salted with Himalayan Sea Salt

  • most nuts are roasted in VERY UNHEALTHY oils

  • the other factor here is most regular nuts are sprayed with glyphosate (aka Round Up) and our bodies definitely do not need or want round up in them!

Once your nuts are ready to go, add to your salads and to your vegetables.⁣

Remember: take any sort of seeds and nuts that 𝗬𝗢𝗨 like and mix them together. No need to add any oil or seasoning to them. The slower and lower temperature you can roast them, the better! And celebrate the fats in your nuts and seeds, they are 𝗦𝗢 incredibly good for you and your family! Plus roasting your nuts & seeds is a great job for kids!
